What the app does

Measure your motorcycle’s acceleration

Start a measurement, then set off. The app starts timing automatically when you move and records your speed throughout the run. The chart shows how your speed changes over time.

Using it

Choose the speed range you want to measure

Do not measure on public roads. Use a closed course or a private area where you have permission to ride. Follow the speed limits and rules that apply there.

You can measure from a standstill or while already moving. Set a range such as 0–80 or 50–90 km/h in the app.

FAQ

About the app and measurements

Why 0–100 km/h?
The site uses 0–100 km/h as a common range for comparing motorcycles. The tables are sorted by this time. In the app, you can choose other speed ranges.
Why does the site show 0–62 mph instead of 0–60?
100 km/h is approximately 62 mph. A 0–60 mph time measures a different range, so it cannot replace a 0–100 km/h result. To measure your own 0–60 mph time, switch the app to mph and add that range. The site keeps a common 0–100 km/h range for comparisons.
Do I need an account?
No. The app uses an anonymous installation ID instead of an account. If you reinstall it, you get a new ID that is not linked to the previous one.
Can anyone see where I rode?
Your route is not stored or uploaded. The app uses GPS to calculate speed, but does not save coordinates with the measurement. Published results include speed, G-force and elevation over time, along with the motorcycle details and rider weight.
How accurate are the measurements?
We have not established a verified accuracy figure for the app. Small differences between times should be treated with caution. When comparing motorcycles, look at several runs and the range of results rather than a single time.
Why do times vary for the same motorcycle model?
Rider weight, the start and gear changes can all affect the time. So can the slope and surface of the course, weather, and the motorcycle’s condition or modifications. Runs from the same model can come from different motorcycles, riders and conditions.
How do I report a problem with a measurement?
Email contact@speedcharts.app with a link to the measurement and a description of the problem. You can also use this address to report bugs or ask questions. To remove your own measurement from the site, withdraw it in the app.
Do I have to publish anything?
No. Your measurements stay on your phone unless you choose to publish them. You publish each measurement separately, and it is checked before appearing on the site. You can withdraw it through the app at any time. Your local copy stays on your phone.

What it costs and what it stores

  • No account required

    No email, password or sign-up. Published measurements are listed by motorcycle model, without rider names. The site compares motorcycles and does not rank riders.

  • Your route is not stored

    The app uses GPS to calculate your speed. It does not save your route or include coordinates in published measurements.

  • Why free?

    I built SpeedCharts for my own use as a hobby project. It costs very little to run, so I offer it for free. I may add a small advertising space on this website in the future. The app will remain ad-free.
